COLUMBUS DISPATCH
American Electric Power today said it won't ask Ohio customers to pay $130 million to make
utility service more reliable.
In October, AEP asked the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for permission to charge customers another $2 a month for a five-year plan to replace equipment, upgrade infrastructure, improve tree trimming to reduce outages and improve overall service. Since then, AEP said it was unable to reach an agreement with PUCO staff and the Ohio Consumers' Counsel about how to proceed with the plan, so the parties agreed it should be withdrawn. Instead, AEP wants to spend $10 million on tree trimming, the costs of which will not be passed to customers, the utility said. Story toolsToday’s Top Stories
