The ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus will honor Ray Hanley, former president of the Greater Columbus Arts Council, with a musical premiere in concerts Saturday and next Sunday.

Gabriela Lena Frank's Compadrazgo, a double concerto written for cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, will be performed at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. next Sunday in the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St.

Finckel is a member of the Emerson String Quartet; Wu Han, his wife, appears regularly at the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado. They are co-directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

The title of Frank's new work refers to the Latin American concept of camaraderie.

"I found this spirit particularly well-suited for exploring the camaraderie between soloists as well as between soloists and orchestra," Frank said.

The work was commissioned by Hanley's longtime friend Loann Crane and ProMusica supporters Barbara Fergus and Barbara Trueman. Hanley died April 16 after a fall.

Works by Copland, Haydn and Stravinsky will also be featured. Tickets cost $25 to $41, with student discounts available. Call 614-464-0066 or visit www.promusicacolumbus.org.
